Welcome to Ripon Civic Society

We are dedicated to protecting and enhancing the historic buildings and environment of the cathedral city of Ripon on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and of the surrounding area.

Our aims include:

  • promoting heritage protection and conservation projects in the city and area
  • promoting the highest levels of architecture, planning and design
  • stimulating public awareness of the best qualities of Ripon and the surrounding area
    acting as a leading voice in the development and prosperity of the city and the surrounding area.

    The Society has almost 200 members and is a strong voice in Ripon.  Why not join us?

Our Winter 2016/17 newsletter is now available.


The next meeting will take place on Thursday 1 June 2017, when Sue Wrathmell will speak on 'Civic Skipton Revealed'.  The meeting, in Allhallowgate Church Hall, begins at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, at a cost of £3.00.  See below for a visit to Skipton


We have three visits arranged for this summer:

Saturday 3 June 2017: Skipton.  We shall be shown round the town in the afternoon by Sue Wrathmell of Skipton Civic Society and finish with a meal together in the early evening.

Saturday 8 July: visit by coach to Renishaw Hall and Vineyard (limited space remaining)

Thursday 3 August: visit to Ripon Select Foods
