Ripon Civic Society wins the Yorkshire and the Humber Association of Civic Societies award for achievement in 2018
26th January 2019
Ripon Civic Society has won the 2018 Award for Achievement from the Yorkshire and Humber Association of Civic Societies for the Ripon Re-Viewed project which reclaims, restores and reveals up to 10,000 historic photographic images of the city. Ripon Re-Viewed is innovative in its scope and forward looking in the opportunities it offers for further and future use of the photographic images to provide other events and activities. The Society has been fortunate to have been able to call upon its members and other friends to raise its profile through this project. Receiving the Award is generous recognition of what can be achieved in a small city and both encourages other communities and supports the drive for new members.
It is complemented by the Society’s investment in an “augmented reality” app (GAMAR) as well as the Society’s ongoing activities of heritage plaques, walks and leaflets.
