HISTORIC HOUSES AROUND RIPON ARE SUBJECT OF SOCIETY’S TALK
22nd November 2010
‘Historic Houses around Ripon’ will feature in the talk to Ripon Civic Society’s meeting on Thursday 2 December, when Maurice Taylor will be the speaker.
Maurice, who is one of the Society’s Vice Presidents, will look at the history of five houses – Hollin Hall, Markenfield Hall, Newby Hall, Studley Royal and Norton Conyers – from the 12th century to the present day.
The meeting takes place at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall in Victoria Grove, Ripon, and starts at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, and pay £2.00 for the evening. After the talk the Society will hold a short Extraordinary General Meeting to discuss a change to its constitution.
David Winpenny, Chairman of Ripon Civic Society, says, ‘We are delighted to welcome Maurice Taylor to our December meeting. His talk promises to give some fascinating insights into these five nearby houses, all of which has a fascinating history.’
