Ripon Clocks and Clock Makers is the title of the next talk to Ripon Civic Society, on Thursday 4 September

The talk, which is held jointly with Ripon Historical Society, will be given by horological expert David Severs. Dr Severs, from Northallerton, is a former chief superintendent in North Yorkshire Police and is descended from an 18th-century Northallerton clockmaker. He has produced a number of books on local clockmakers, and in this talk he will reveal his latest findings about clockmakers working in Ripon.

David Winpenny, Chairman of Ripon Civic Society, says, ‘Clocks by local clockmakers are always much sought-after, and it will be fascinating to hear from Dr Severs about our local practitioners and their timepieces.’

Everyone is welcome to the talk, which takes place at 7.30 pm on Thursday 4 September at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall, Victoria Grove, Ripon. There is a charge of £3.00 for anyone who is not a Civic Society or a Historical Society member.
